Review: Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

Let's Get Lost

Publisher: July 29, 2014 by Harlequin Teen
Pages: 352
Series: N/A

"Five strangers. Countless adventures. One epic way to get lost.

Four teens across the country have only one thing in common: a girl named LEILA. She crashes into their lives in her absurdly red car at the moment they need someone the most.

There's HUDSON, a small-town mechanic who is willing to throw away his dreams for true love. And BREE, a runaway who seizes every Tuesday—and a few stolen goods along the way. ELLIOT believes in happy endings…until his own life goes off-script. And SONIA worries that when she lost her boyfriend, she also lost the ability to love.

Hudson, Bree, Elliot and Sonia find a friend in Leila. And when Leila leaves them, their lives are forever changed. But it is during Leila's own 4,268-mile journey that she discovers the most important truth— sometimes, what you need most is right where you started. And maybe the only way to find what you're looking for is to get lost along the way."

When I first read about this book, I thought the premise sounded really cool. So I was hoping and praying that when I read the book Adi Alsaid did not disappoint me. And he didn't!

The story opens with the readers getting to know Leila as she gets to know Hudson. You think Leila is one thing but as the story grows you become more and more suspicious of who Leila is and why she is really on this road trip. She has a heart of gold, that you can tell is never faked, but some answers she gives are always different depending on who the person is that she talks to. At one point I thought she was just a little cookoo in the head but the reality is much worse.

One aspect I really liked was having the story told in the point of view of who Leila met. That was you as a reader never knew Leila's intentions or inner thoughts. I also really liked that each of the people Leila meets were different in every way, but each had a problem. Leila became their resident fixers and helped them overcome their issues.

Happy endings for the win!

Also, some of the situations Leila and the friends she meets gets into are absolutely hilarious! She gets arrested, tries to illegally cross the Canadian boarder and has to run from cops while she is trapped on an island. Oh and something rather creepy happens with Cabbage Patch dolls, but I will just leave that one to your imagination.

I strongly recommend that you read Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will read an amazing story!
