"Two years before Beatrice Prior made her choice, the sixteen-year-old son of Abnegation’s faction leader did the same. Tobias’s transfer to Dauntless is a chance to begin again. Here, he will not be called the name his parents gave him. Here, he will not let fear turn him into a cowering child.
Newly christened “Four,” he discovers during initiation that he will succeed in Dauntless. Initiation is only the beginning, though; Four must claim his place in the Dauntless hierarchy. His decisions will affect future initiates as well as uncover secrets that could threaten his own future—and the future of the entire faction system.
Two years later, Four is poised to take action, but the course is still unclear. The first new initiate who jumps into the net might change all that. With her, the way to righting their world might become clear. With her, it might become possible to be Tobias once again.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth comes a companion volume to the worldwide bestselling divergent series, told from the per-spective of the immensely popular character Tobias. The four pieces included here—The Transfer, The Initiate, The Son, and The Traitor—plus three additional exclusive scenes, give readers an electrifying glimpse into the history and heart of Tobias, and set the stage for the epic saga of the Divergent trilogy."
Being a HUGE fan of the Divergent trilogy, I was so, so happy when my mom bought me this book. I had been waiting and waiting for it at the library but there was like 53 holds on it. Which was insane. But I guess that's a good thing that so many people are into reading books.
When Veronica Roth first started writing short stories in the point of view of Four I LOVED them. I liked reading his side of the events and a little about his life before he met Tris. When I found out that Roth was writing a while book of short stories I freaked out like a good little fan girl. And let me tell you, these stories did not disappoint. They gave exactly what I wanted to read and let me in to who Four was as a person and his motivations behind his actions.
While each and every story was amazing, I liked reading The Traitor the most. Probably because of all the parallels between it and Divergent. It gave so much insite to Four and his motivations. I loved every single word.
This collection of stories goes to show how great of a writer Veronica Roth is. It must have taken such hard work to be able to write the stories that include the parallels. Making sure that everything was in the right order and that she was still able to get her point across and tell the story that she wanted to. I give her so many props. I hope she writes a new book. I would read it in a heartbeat, no matter what the plot was.
Make sure that you read Four: A Divergent Collection sometime soon. It is well worth it.
